Objectives :Saam acupuncture has evident principles of prescription based on tonifying and dispersing theory of Nan Jing chapter 69. But many prescriptions of Saam acupuncture have no typical patterns. This paper studies principles of precriptions of the normal form and their variation.
Methods :We have created four hypotheses and explained these on historical, cultural background since The Yellow Emperor¡¯s Classic of Internal Medicine period. We found some theory by investigating 125 normal form of Saam acupuncture.
Results & Conclusions:1. Saam acupuncture succeed not to acupuncture point theory but to meridian theory from The Yellow Emperor¡¯s Classic of Internal Medicine period. 2. Five elemental point used for treating the five viscera and the six entrails not considering Wu Xing Bu Xie. 3. Wang Sheng Xiu Qiu Si èÚßÓýÌáöÞÝ is used as based principles on the normal form. Wang Sheng Xiu is a family, Qiu Si is the enemy, Wang Sheng Xiu is in a promoting cycle of the five phases, Qiu Si is in a control cycle of the five phases. For tonify deficiency, we reinforce Wang Sheng Xiu and reduce Qiu Si. 4. In a promoting cycle, the five phases do a reinforcing method. In control cycle, the five phases must do a reducing method. Xiang Sheng Zhe Ke Bu, Xiang Ke Zhe Bi Xie ßÓßæíºÊ¦ÜÍ ßÓкíºù±Þá is Saam¡¯s basic concept of prescription. 5. There is some variation of the normal form because Saam changed acupuncture point considering patient¡¯s status and disease.
